The new MacBook Air with M2 Chip is now available for order on Apple's online store. Deliveries will begin next Friday, July 15th, as will in-store availability.
The refreshed MacBook Air with the new design is the first with M2 and has undergone the biggest changes to the Air series since 2010.
It has a slightly larger 13.6″ screen, a notch on the top bezel for an upgraded 1080p camera, a MacBook Pro-like body, and new color options – Starlight and Midnight.
In terms of connectivity, it has two USB-C ports, along with a MagSafe port for charging and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Also, it has a built-in four-speaker sound system that supports spatial sound and wide stereo. It also has a triple microphone array.
Next-generation M2 chip
The next-generation M2 chip features an 8-core CPU and up to 10-core GPU, supporting up to 24GB of memory. Compared to M1, M2 performs better with 18% faster CPU, 35% faster GPU and 40% faster Neural Engine.
The new MacBook Air starts at $1,199 in the US. Meanwhile, the previous-generation MacBook Air with the M1 chip remains available for $999.
