In 2021, the new 5G high-speed modem of MediaTek named M80 will start to be introduced in various smartphones. The MediaTek M80 is expected to find its way into other Internet of Things implementations.
The MediaTek M80 operates at a very short wavelength, in the millimeter range, or what we call mmWave, with many similar networks being built around the world, other than Verizon in the US.
In any case, it is a network of very high speeds that suits densely populated areas, such as modern big cities.
Regarding its technical features, the MediaTek M80 5G modem downloads at 7.67 Gbps and uploads at 3.76 Gbps.
At a comparative level, it seems to do better than both the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 X60 modem and the Samsung Exynos 2100 equipment.
This modem, according to what MediaTek says will come later in 2021, while we must not forget that in 2022 the company aspires to enter the category of SoCs at 5 nm.
