The incident took place in the area of Saint Petersburg, in the state of Florida, USA, on March 3, 2022, when the unfortunate 71-year-old woman fell without realizing it and without being conscious. The Apple Watch called for help and the woman was taken to hospital.
The woman was diagnosed with lung cancer which was the cause of the fall due to reduced oxygen intake. The elderly woman considers herself extremely lucky that a wearable could indirectly lead to the early diagnosis of the serious health problem she was facing without knowing it.
The Apple Watch immediately after the fall sent a message to the cell phone of the woman's son who rushed to help. So, the proof that technology does not just unite us, sometimes it even saves us.
