iPhone 13 | Expectations and upcoming features

Although the presentation of the new models will take place in several months, we have gathered everything we know about the upcoming iPhone 13.

The new series will provide users with several improvements, while we expect to see some common elements between the 2021 models and the iPhone 12 series smartphones.

Let's go see everything we know today and the rumors that exist.

The new models

Apple has increased the number of models to 4 this year, something we expect to happen in the upcoming iPhone 13. So, we will see the 5.4-inch mini model, the regular and the Pro at 6.1 inches, and the Pro Max model at 6.7 inches.

According to the information so far, we will not see any change in the design of the models, with their size remaining the same as in the iPhone 12.

Of course, this is something that Apple has become accustomed to, as the redesign is done every two generations.

However, as much as iPhone 12s are reminiscent of the new models, it is almost certain that we will see the name iPhone 13, although there are some sources that tell us that the company has not chosen the final name yet.

Touch ID

The return of Touch ID is certain, as the pandemic continues to require the use of a mask and rendering Face ID useless outdoors.

The new iPhone 13 seems to be the first model in the series that will offer both ways of biometric security in the devices, while according to the well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo we will see for the first time a fingerprint sensor under the screen.

This is surprising of course, as after the integration of Touch ID in the power button in the latest iPad Air model, many expected that we would see something similar in the new series. But apart from Ming-Chi Kuo, several sources confirm the in-display FP, so we will see Apple reach the… standard of Android flagships.

Improved camera and LiDAR everywhere

In terms of the camera, the iPhone 12 has lagged behind the competition in terms of zoom and macro, but this is something that will continue in 2021.

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, we will not see significant improvements in the camera hardware. Of course, this does not mean that we will not see significant improvements in the software, something that the company can take advantage of to offer an even better experience.

Where we expect to see improvement is in the ultrawide sensor, as the information states that it will be upgraded to a 6-element sensor.

In fact, the Pro models are expected to have better resolution in the main sensor, with a larger CMOS image sensor as the main sensor.

In addition, it seems that the LiDAR sensor will no longer be an advantage of premium and more expensive models.

After the launch of 5G, Apple wants to promote the LiDAR sensor even more aggressively, in order to make its AR platform even more accessible and mainstream. So, we expect the new sensor to appear on all new models.

120Hz ProMotion screen and thinner notch

Although we expected it this year, in the end, none of the new iPhone 12 models had a screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz. The reason seems to be that Apple was expecting LTPO technology (for the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and Galaxy S21 ), but Samsung would not have as many screens ready as the company needed. So, 2021 seems to be the year we will see the 120z, but it will be provided exclusively to the company's Pro models.

Another item we expected this year and did not see was the smallest notch, which we did see, but only on the iPhone 12 mini.

The Mac Otakara website points out that the TruDepth sensor will take up less space as it will be repositioned on the edge. This will allow a thinner notch, but no smaller.

The well-known leakster Ice Universe has even given us an image that shows us how much thinner the new notch will be.

Model without doors

With the release of the MagSafe charger, Apple has prepared us for the end of the Lightning port, which will come with the iPhone 13.

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, the largest model in the series, the iPhone 13 Pro Max, will have no charging port and will be the first model without any port.

In fact, there is information on the use of the Smart Connector in this model, such as the iPad, which will allow data transfer without the use of a cable.

This will be the most " bold " Apple move we have seen to date. Of course, this will also mean the end of the headphones, since there is no longer a 3.5 mm port.

But beyond the information so far, what do you expect most from the new models?
